I was setting up a pot of water on my stove when I did the following steps in the following order:

1. Turn on the burner (electric)
2. Take pot to sink and fill with water
3. Notice burner is slightly crooked
4. Push on burner to slide it into place
5. Realize have burned tips of fingers

I really want to study abroad in England, Ireland or Scotland

/random

I'm making churros!!!

ETA: Actually it's more of a funnel cake-churro hybrid. I don't have a large enough tip on my pastry bag to make the big stick pieces so I just squirted the dough at random into the oil in swirly patterns.

We got around 8-13 inches of snow last night and they're calling for 1-3 more before early afternoon. I was supposed to work at 8:30 this morning but there's no way in hell I'm getting out of the parking lot. They have the main part of the lots cleared out but not the stalls so there's this wall of snow blocking all the cars in.

The snow policy is messed up/confusing to everyone. The notices they give us say that the sidewalks and lots should be cleared by 7am, unless it's still snowing really bad or whatnot. They've been good about that. They also say that the stalls will be cleared by 10am and that if you don't move your car you will be towed. Yet, often times we aren't allowed on the street yet because the plows haven't been down there yet. I went out to at least get my car cleared off and one of the maintenance guys said that unless I absolutely had to leave, I shouldn't bother because I'd get stuck on the streets.

The city is only plowing the main streets/interstate in the early part after the storm. My street meets up with the same street at two different spots. It's like a half circle sorta thing and basically at the bottom of the list of important streets to plow after a snow storm. The one it connects to is slightly higher and the one that one joins up with is probably in the top 5. It may be a while until I get get anywhere. I'm supposed to call my boss at 2 in order to see if I'm working tonight. The loss of hours bites the big one but it's nice not having to mess with the weather.

I bought myself an early x-mas present in the form of Il Divo's concert dvd.

They have been my favorite group for several years and I'm hoping to get out to one of their concerts out east and make a mini vacation of it.

I love coming across people who expect the world to provide a complete, idiot proof instruction manual for life. This website allows people to submit examples of "bad design" that they find in their everyday lives.

A tiny fraction of them have good points regarding safety but most are people who are too stupid to figure out how to work a simple child's toy or insist on detailed diagrams and supervision because they pushed when they should have pulled.

I'm watching Hell's Kitchen online and making baked fish. I needed to pause the show so I could go into the kitchen. I'm tapping the screen of the laptop with my finger but the video isn't pausing. Then, it goes to a commercial and if you try to stop them, they can redirect you to a webpage for the item being advertised. I didn't want that so I waited for the show to come back and begin frantically poking the screen and the damn thing won't stop.

Then I realized that I didn't have a touch screen.

I purchased the season pass for the latest season of Numb3rs on iTunes. Because of the writers' strike and the fact that there may be fewer episodes than a standard season I have two free video downloads. I was going to get the 'Once More, With Feeling' episode from Buffy and the episode after that. Problem? iTunes only has Season 1 and 2.

If you were me, what would you pick?

I love dark chocolate, like 80% or higher. About the only kind I can find around here is Lindt and the stores only carry the 80%. Today, I decided to pick up the 'Intense Mint' bar (though the cacao percentage isn't listed - it doesn't taste that high) and some Valor brand 'Dark chocolate with orange'. Now, the Lindt mint bar is mint infused and I figured the Valor bar would have orange flavors/extracts. No, it has like orange pulpy chunks. And the chocolate is brittle. It's not a combination that is supportive of the 'melting in your mouth' way of eating dark chocolate.

My wisdom teeth are coming in...or rather they've been coming in for years and I've decided not to see a dentist for some nine years...and the upper one on my right side is sharp! Like scratches my cheek, gets in the way of eating sharp.

I know I should get them taken care of but I hate the idea of going through any sort of surgery type procedure and have to be that dependent on my parents - especially my mom. And there are some possible aspects of it that I'm not comfortable having my family involved in or informed about.

Stupid evolution shrinking our mouths :(

It's 2am and I'm fully awake. This is problematic due to the fact that I work at 8:30am. It didn't help that I'm sick and slept until 1:30pm yesterday. I tried going to sleep at 11:00 and have not had much success in that area. One thing I miss about my old meds is that they helped me get to sleep as they made it so my mind didn't wander at night. I'm seriously considering staying up all night and then napping tomorrow. I know that'll kick me in the ass but sleep is not working. Yeah, being on LJ isn't helping things but at least I'm focusing on something and my mind isn't acting like a tv with it's channels being switched constantly.

I'm planning on going back to school in January and all the drama involved with advising is almost enough for me to say "Screw it!".

For my major, you have to get permission to take studio classes in art. By the time I decided I wanted to go back and what I wanted to study, advising was over and the classes were full. I have an appeal in and could possibly get into a class based on my total credits. I won't know for sure until late December at the latest.

Knowing this I decided to get some of the non-studio classes out of the way. That leads to more fun. There is an English requirement that, according to my advising report, needs to be fulfilled withing the first 60 credits. Or you need a waiver. I have 83 credits. There is also a general, broad study type of class that freshmen take. I transferred in as a junior and it still says I need to take it. These two requirements are what are keeping me from signing up for just about every class I need. And I can't seem to get a straight answer when I try to find out if I can get out of taking these.

I'm off tomorrow so I'll see if I can find some new numbers to call.

I had a craving for some fruit so I went to the store and bought some (6) of those plastic jars of fruit. My mom gets home from work and I'm like "Hands off the fruit *grins*". She asked me what happens if my sister wants some. I tell her she'll have to get her own. My mom then tries to give me money for half so my sister can have some. I figure if she wants some, she can get her own.

Then my mom tells me to move them up to my fridge in my room then. I told her I will has soon as my sister moves the two boxes of weight loss shakes she has in there that are taking up over half the room on the bottom shelf.

My fruit. Hands off!

Anyone else have people they work with who get angry with the bosses or other workers when they themselves cannot finish a job because of some fault of their own. Anything from being late to not having the skills to perform simple tasks without an army of supporters.

I bought the latest Avatar dvd and Bobby today. The reason I bought Bobby was partly due to all the different actors who star in it.

And I bought the Avatar dvd because I'm obsessed and I like cartoons about bald kids with arrows on their heads.

We're under a winter storm warning and before you check, yes it is still April

Thankfully, I have the next two days off.
